Caring for your new hair extensions; 

At HR Premium Hair Extensions we specialise in providing our customers with 100% human hair that still has the natural hair cuticle attached & facing a downwards direction.

With this in mind - hair extensions require the same TLC as your natural hair, plus a little extra - the easiest way to think about ALL hair extensions is that they are "Permanently Dehydrated" as the hair is no longer attached to your scalp & has no way to receive all those healthy oils your scalp provides for your natural hair! As a result we need to consistently hydrate the hair to ensure your hair extensions are easy to manage & last their expected lifespan.

We recommend using all moisturising/hydrating shampoos, conditioners, hair masks/leave-in treatments & Argan oils. If you or your client ever need haircare suggestions or advice our friendly team are here & happy to help you & discuss further. 

HR Premium Hair Extensions recommends all clients and stylist to stay clear of any products that includes ingredients such as Protein, Keratin, Sulphate, or high level of alcohols as these types of ingredients dry the hair out! Which can potentially lead to matting, knotting, breakage &/or cut the lifespan of your beautiful hair extensions! 

Maintenance & reapplication services; 

During our slow & gentle 8 week manufacture process, we custom colour all hair to one of our 12 natural hair colours we offer (before attaching to the hair extensions bonds). Please be aware that being human hair (just like your own hair) all colours can potentially fade over time, & hair extensions may require a "colour refresh" during reapplication appointments with your hair extensions specialist/stylist.  

 

Do's & Don't Hair Extensions Guide 

DO's
  • Use hair extension friendly shampoo & conditioner recommended to you by your stylist (Containing no Protein, Sulphate or high alcohol levels)
  • When shampooing your hair, always emulsify the shampoo in a downwards direction
  • Condition mid-lengths & ends of your hair extensions (avoid applying conditioner or oils to the scalp)
  • Always rinse your natural hair & extensions thoroughly after shampoo & conditioner
  • Apply a recommended moisture treatment to the mid-lengths & ends of your extensions once per week
  • Brush your hair extensions a minimum of 2-3 times daily with a recommended hair extension brush
  • Apply a recommended extension safe oil 1-2 times daily to the mid-lengths & ends of your natural hair & extensions
  • Remove & reapply your hair extensions every 6-8 weeks to ensure no damage is caused to your natural hair
  • Always blow-dry your hair extensions after washing/wetting your hair, your hair extensions should always be dry at the roots
  • Dry hair gently with a hairdryer on a low/medium heat (Using a hair extensions friendly heat protector)
  • Always tie hair in a plait or braid while sleeping to avoid knots, tangles or breakage
  • Always tie hair in a plait or braid when swimming & wash your hair extensions after swimming to avoid knots, tangles or breakage
  • Use low tension & metal free hair accessories when styling your hair
  • After hair extension application, avoid wearing high ponytails (low ponytail or plait is best)
DONT'S
  • Do not use products containing ingredients such as Sulphate, Protein, Tea Tree Oil or High levels of Alcohol content (this includes colours & toning shampoo's) as this will cut the lifespan of your hair extensions 
  • Do not sleep with wet hair - our natural hair is weaker when wet, which is more likely to damage, knot or tangle your hair
  • NEVER leave your hair extensions to "dry naturally", always blow-dry to a minimum of 80% dry
  • Do not use oils or products containing citrus or tea tree near your scalp area as this can encourage slippage
  • Do not wash your hair for 48-72 hours after having your hair extensions applied
  • Do not colour or tone your hair while hair extensions are installed, if you do, you do so at your own risk, as it may affect the bond of the extensions, causing them to slip & discolour
  • Do not bleach hair extensions, only semi- permanent colours or toners can be used (we recommend visiting a professional salon for all hair extension colour services)
